M5 MacBook Air dives under $900

26

It is officially on sale.

$899.99.

That is the number seeing on Amazon for the 13-inch M5 MacBook Air right now. 16GB of RAM. 512GB of storage. As of May 25 it has crossed the line. The $900 barrier.

Just a few days ago we were happy to see it hit $949 for the Memorial Day weekend. Now the price dropped another fifty bucks. It is the first time this model has ever been below the nine hundred dollar mark. Eighteen percent off the list price. Best deal in history.

Timothy Werth over at Mashable calls the laptop “irresistible” at this price point. He reviewed it. Liked the speed. Noted the WiFi 7. Bluetooth 6 too.

There is no denying that this laptop justifies its prices.

He waited. Told us to wait for exactly $899 before pulling the trigger. We did not have to wait long.

The starting price is higher than the old model. You get more base storage though. Do the math and you are saving money. It also sits within $200 of Apple’s cheap budget laptop that has the same storage.

Is it essential for everyone? Probably not.

If you already have an M4 or M3 MacBook it feels a bit redundant. The wireless chip is newer. The processor is faster. The design? Mostly the same. But for anyone with an older Mac. Or anyone jumping into the Apple ecosystem for the first time?

This is the machine.
