Hisense has announced a breakthrough in television color technology with its new 116-inch 116UXS MiniLED TV. The key innovation? A fourth cyan pixel added to the RGB backlight system, enabling a wider, more accurate color spectrum than ever before.
Expanding the Color Range
Traditional TVs use red, green, and blue (RGB) LEDs to create images. Hisense’s “RGB evo” system adds cyan, which the company claims allows it to reproduce up to 110% of the BT.2020 color spectrum – a standard that most current displays struggle to meet. This means more vivid, lifelike colors with increased accuracy.
The addition of cyan isn’t just about richer hues; it also addresses a growing concern in display technology: blue light emissions. According to Hisense, the four-color system reduces blue light output by up to 90%. This could have positive implications for eye strain and sleep patterns, as excessive blue light exposure is linked to both.
Advanced Backlight Control and Audio Integration
The 116UXS boasts “tens of thousands of color dimming zones”, allowing for precise control over brightness and contrast in every part of the screen. This granular control is crucial for achieving true black levels and preventing color bleed.
Beyond the display, Hisense has integrated a high-end Devialet Opéra de Paris 6.2.2 audio system, ensuring sound quality matches the visual performance. The TV itself features a slim bezel and a panel depth of just 1.57 inches.
